My grandpa died this past Sunday from complications related to a fall that broke both his hip and his leg. Unfortunately, his frail body was unable to recover from the surgery and he died within 48 hours. I had planned on making a trip to Crown Point with my Dad this month before my maternity leave ended to see my Grandpa and I regret that I didn't get to see him one last time. These pictures are from the last trip I took to see him when Harrison was a baby. I will miss him. Even though we grew up 1000 mile away from my Grandpa, I have very fond memories of him. He loved to play cards, which we did a lot of when we were together. He had a great sense of humor. He had a tremendous love for my Grandma that was so inspiring. They were married 66 years. He was a military man with a hard exterior, but was really quite a softy inside. He was very artistic and made a living as an architect when he returned home from serving in the Marines. My heart is heavy and sad this week, but I am thankful he didn't have to suffer through a long painful recovery. I miss him and look forward to sharing our memories with each other this weekend.
