Labor Day Weekend: The Cumberland River

Matt and I drove down to Kentucky on Saturday morning and returned late Monday night. We fished, camped, ate bad buffet food, relaxed, laughed, made fires, and spent good ole' quality time together as husband and wife. It was a good time!
The entrance to the campground. Not luxury by any means.
For those of you who don't know, the Midwest is suffering from a pretty terrible drought this year. It really is sad to see what is normally a lush, green, moist landscape sooooo dry, dead and brown. Matt hasn't needed to mow the grass in about a month due to the fact that it's dead and stopped growing. The leaves are already starting to drop their leaves and they just look so sad and droopy.
Our campsite.
How cool is this picture?! (Click on it to see a larger version). This man was fishing from his lawn chair in the shallow waters right below the damn. I think it looks so awesomely creepy.

Action shot of us motoring down river.
This should be a painting. We got on the river pretty early (7:30ish) Monday morning and were greeted by a thick layer of fog and cool temperatures.
The butterflies were EVERYWHERE! There were much prettier ones, but this is the only one that would hold still enough for me to take a picture.
