The boys participated in the July 4th bike parade around the local campground and loved every second of it. Almost every second. The children were divided up into age groups, paraded around the campground, and then judged on their bike decorations. Prizes were awarded. Matt and I picked up some decorations while at Wal-mart for a grocery run and then the whole family helped decorate the bike and scooter. Harrison and Henry were mildly interested in decorating the bikes, loved the parade, but did not love the judgement portion of the event. Harrison did not win and he was not happy. It's a tough lesson to learn, but it was bound to happen. I think there were some tears. And Matt was so mad that Henry was in the 0-2 year category. I'm pretty sure within earshot of the judges, other children, and parents Matt said, "I guess you had to be a baby being pulled in a wagon to win anything in Henry's category!!". I tried to refocus everyone on the crazy amount of fun we had and that it wasn't very patriotic to cry and carry on about losing.
The boys were adorable and fun was had by all! Plus, we got a lot of 'oohs and aahs' the rest of the trip as the boys rode their festive wheels around town.
