And if that wasn't enough, then she saved the boys from getting attacked by a wild rodent in our playroom! While cleaning the disaster of a playroom (see previous post) with the boys after breakfast, I noticed a mouse-like animal running around the pile of toys I was putting away. I literally was trying to remember if we had a toy mouse. The answer was no. Then I yelled, "We have a mouse in the house!" and grabbed Henry who was sitting right next to me and told Harrison to get on the couch. I opened the door to the outside hoping it would get a clue and leave. My Mom arrived and we realized it was not a mouse, but a baby mole! With the adrenaline pumping my Mom reached down and grabbed the wild animal and calmly tossed it outside. Please note that I yelled and warned her to not pick up the mole because it would bite her. And it did. She actually had to shake it loose from her thumb. It hurt a lot, her thumb quickly began to swell, and she had pain radiating up her arm! We were frantic. And we thought other people would be frantic, as well. At the very least concerned. Not so. No one really cared. Turns out after much research we think it was a shrew. And it also turns out that shrews are very ferocious and are actually venomous. But thankfully they rarely have rabies. My Mom's thumb and arm are still sore, but she is on an antibiotic and I'm sure all will be fine. But like I told her, at least she got to go home. I'm stuck in this house nervously awaiting another wild shrew attack.
Besides the attack, we had so much fun with Bubbe this weekend. The boys and I love when she comes to visit. See below.
I knocked over my glass of water while taking pictures. I'm not sure why I'm not the one cleaning up the spill. |
