Unplanned Moments

I'm not sure if it was the excitement of Christmas or just several teeth coming in at once, but Henry had trouble falling asleep for a few days over the holidays. One night we decided to get him up and let him play for awhile. Kind of like a 'reset' button. He was hysterical. He was just so happy- rolling all over the floor, laughing, talking and snuggling with us on the couch. It was a lesson to me that I don't always have to stick to routines or regimens or rules. Good things happen sometimes when you bend the rules and relax a little. The three of us had a wonderful unplanned moment that would have never happened had I been uptight and worried about getting Henry back to sleep as soon as possible. That's my new mantra for 2012 - relax a little and enjoy those unplanned moments.
