We took Harrison to get his hair cut Saturday morning with Hershel. Hershel cut Matt's hair from when he was a kid until a few years ago. It was quite the experience! It's a real Southern Indiana barber shop with the red and white striped thing that spins on the outside of the shop and IU sports photos, newspaper clippings and memorabilia covering the walls. When we arrived each booth had a customer and each haircut takes forever because the guys are all talking about their predictions and opinions about IU's upcoming season. Hershel has been in business in this same location for 40 years.

Pre-haircut. |

Harrison is still looking kind of excited here, but as soon as the haircut began he went into this coma-like trance. He did great, didn't move an inch and didn't make a sound. Hershel was great, too. He acted like Harrison was one of his adult customers and didn't fuss over him a bit which I think helped. |

And so it begins.... |
I forgot to mention that Hershel only has 2 fingers and a thumb on his right hand. |
We're trying to teach Harrison how to swallow. |
I couldn't figure out if Harrison was nervous or really relaxed. His face starting expanding and more and more chins starting popping out over his smock. (Check out that grip Hershel has on his clippers!) |
I was excited to take Harrison to Hershel knowing Matt's history with him, but I must say that I was quite nervous about the actual cut. I told Hershel to make it shorter, kind of blended, and not goofy. My blood pressure starting rising a little when I saw the dreaded cut across the forehead. I think Hershel's idea of goofy and mine may differ. |

Look at those chins! |
On a side note, this man was sitting in the chair getting his 'flat top' cut and styled when we arrived. He and Harrison finished at about the same time. I had no idea how much time went into the 'flat top' hairstyle. |

Classic. |

A cool picture of Hershel cutting his son's hair. |
Finished! Looking pretty good, a little blunt and crooked across the front, but not bad! |
Hershel gave Harrison his first lollipop. Banana flavored. Harrison said thanks, waved goodbye, and then devoured his lollipop when we got home. |
