We sometimes begin our bedtime routine with a bath.

A new game that Harrison started playing the other day is to line up his cups along the edge of the tub (very carefully) and then take them all down one by one. And then line them up again, but then he pushes them over the edge onto the tile.
After our bath we slather Harrison with lotion and put him in his pjs. Then it's book time. Harrison chooses a book and then brings it back to us on the chair to read. That's if he doesn't get distracted on the way.
We read him the book....
...and sometimes he 'reads' it to us.
