Deep Thoughts.

Here you go, Lauren, here are some deep thoughts. Not very, but still, thoughts.

I think the reason I write, talk about, and post pictures of dishes I create is because I never had a model to learn from growing up. My Mom and Dad didn't cook and if they did it was either gravy train, pork chops, creamed tuna on toast, Kraft macaroni and cheese/applesauce/cottage cheese (one meal), or frozen chicken pot pies. And I apologize if they did cook other meals, but I don't remember. So, when I choose a menu, go to the grocery store, use natural healthy ingredients (we'll ignore all of the flour, butter, and sugar that are in the Barefoot Contessa recipes) and actually end up with a real meal that also tastes good I feel sooooo much pride and want other people to know that I can actually cook for my family and I did it on my own. Yay for me!

I'm working on the level of stress I experience while in the kitchen, but I must take baby steps.

Danza, Hey girl, no need to apologize. For some of us, creating healthy, pretty, yes, pretty and finally, actually good tasting food is nothing short of a miracle. And what a wonderful gift to your family. Obviously, not all of us can be genius writers/actors like your sister...and she is extraordinary. Your genius lies elsewhere. And your journey in finding it will be a wonderful enlightning experience. You are on that journey and creating food that delights is one part of it. Cause to me that is genius, too. Keep creating and sharing. I love it.
Finally, it is our obligation to show, teach and spread peace and love. That has to start in each of our own little spheres in this world. Only then can it spread. Sounds to me like you have a good start.

I was going to make a comment about food as a creative outlet and how it is an extension of personality, but I'm not that deep.

I'm loving the deep thoughts. I always want to write stuff like that, but instead post about something Russell did. Pretty lame.

I reread my last comment and thought it sounded like I was sarcastic and taking a shot at you Danza, but I want to make sure you know that I wasn't.

I really do think of food (be it what you make or what you order) as an extension of your personality.

It's just like anything else. Some people put stuff on their walls so they aren't bare, others put stuff on their walls that reflect them, like mirrors (good stuff Joe), and their personality.

Some people eat because they will die if they do not, others eat because they are interested in food and see it as more than mere sustenance.
