I had the perfect Mother's Day thanks to my wonderful husband and adorable son. It started with breakfast in bed (banana bread and coffee). I stayed in bed as long as possible because Matt assured me that he would take care of Harrison. I've always heard about mothers being able to stay in bed all morning long on Mother's Day and there really is something to that! It was such a luxury to spend the morning in bed, guilt free, dozing, plucking my eyebrows, browsing the internet, and sipping coffee. Thank you Matt.
I had to get out of bed because we were meeting my Mother-in-law and Father-in-law at Restaurant Tallent for a Mother's Day brunch. It was well worth climbing out of bed for. Matt and I were a little nervous because Harrison is sick again and we weren't sure if he was going to make it through the entire brunch without a meltdown (he was just pitiful moments before we left), but he was a delight the entire time. Thank you Harrison. We had yummy food and a lovely time with Nana and Pop. Thank you!!!

In addition to a gift certificate for a spa day at the Aveda Salon (I CAN'T WAIT), Matt told me I could do whatever I wanted to for the entire day. I wanted to garden. So, when we got home I changed into my grubby clothes and headed to the garden. It's almost impossible to get anything done in the garden while watching Harrison, so this again was a luxury for me to be able to spend hours uninterrupted in the garden.
Almost uninterrupted. I was surprised by a short (like 15 minutes) visit from my Mom! It was such a nice way to round out the perfect Mother's Day. She is after all the reason I got to celebrate Mother's Day today. And she is the person who taught me all I know about how to be a great mother. Thank you, Mom. I feel so lucky to get you as my mom. I love you.

After my Mom left I finished gardening and headed inside to take care of my little guy. I couldn't have a Mother's Day without doing any motherly duties. Harrison is sick, so I especially wanted to spend some time taking care of him. I gave him a bath and then we sat in the nursery and read a few books, drank a bottle, and then drifted off into dreamland. Harrison fell asleep in my arms and as I was rocking him I was thinking about how fortunate we are and how lucky I am to live this life I'm living. How lucky I am to have my beautiful healthy son. How lucky I am to have my awesome loving husband. How lucky I am to have the BEST family EVER. How lucky I am to be a mother.
