Emerson Davis

Matt and I have a brand new beautiful baby niece! Presenting......
Emerson 'Emmy' Davis
born 9.12.07 2:14 pm
7 lbs 5 oz
21 inches
Drew and Christa requested and recieved the 'Feng Shui' delivery room. This fancy dangly thing was hanging from the ceiling. A 'focus' point for the mom during delivery.
We got news of the impending birth around 8:00 on Tuesday evening. Matt, Pat, and I made the decision to head to Ohio around 10:30 that night. So the adventure began! When we arrived Christa was having contractions every 3 mins. or so and was having a lot of pain. This whole experience was new for Matt and I (I only saw one delivery as a student and I was shoved against the back wall and could barely see), so we were a little taken off guard by how awful it is to see someone you love in so much pain. We went to bed at 4:00 am and got up at 8:00 the next morning to head back to the hospital. When we arrived we were greeted by a much happier, pain free Christa! The epidural was placed right before we left the night before.
Later that day we came in and saw that the nurses had put Christa into the 'Magic Position' in order to turn the baby the right way. As a side note, I must say that Christa was AMAZING. Even the night before when she hadn't had the epidural, she handled herself and the pain like a champ. Very calm, very focused. She was an inspiration. Really. And Drew, too. He looked like he had done this 28 times before. Kudos to you Drew!
Lunch break! Still no baby.
Finally! A baby! Drew and Christa wanted some time by themselves right after the baby was born, so Pat, Matt, and I went and got a celebratory Frosty!
We took our Frostys outside and sat by this beautiful fountain.
Mom and Emmy! How freaking cute is that baby?!!!! And Christa looked beautiful the WHOLE time, not fair.
Nana!
Uncle Matt!
Aunt Danza!
Grammy and Grampy Norris (I think that was what they went with?)!!

And last but not least, Dad!!!

It was such a special experience and we feel so lucky to have been able to be a part of it. Thank you Drew and Christa and especially baby Emmy! We love you guys!
